Don Bastiano

How it all started from a talk between friends

Music has been part of my life for a long time but only in 2016 was created the melodious pseudonym Don Bastiano Joao Coimbra de la Coronilla y Azevedo. The idea of composing a song that was the anthem and soundtrack of the Spencerhill Festival came to me during a nice evening spent in the company of some friends of the great Spencerhill family. El Caballo had already published two tracks dedicated to Bud Spencer & Terence Hill and with the same inspiration a special track was composed for the Spencerhill Festival 2016.

Creating a real soundtrack for the Spencerhill Festival remained for a while just a fun idea stuck in a drawer, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Three years later, in 2016, I finally wanted to donate something for the Spencerhill community and immediately thought of the song "Walking down the street". Many are the memories connected to this song and to the movie "Everything Happens to Me" from which the song, that has never been published, is taken. I wanted to create a beautiful cover with its own character that would awaken old memories and strong emotions in listeners and passionate Spencerhill fans like me. So I made a single that also contained a track, all composed by me, perfect to complement the main track.
I really enjoyed this first experience. I became very fond of the soundtrack genre and started to compose some tracks. The first one I composed was „Heaven“, a piano melody as an affectionate homage to Bud Spencer.

2020 wasn't exactly a brilliant year, I would say... for anyone, but it gave me the opportunity to concentrate and focus on composition. Very intense pieces like "My Piedone" have been created. And then I re-recorded "Ciociolosa" sung by a choir of excellent voices, who had already sung for „The Lion King“ soundtrack, giving the song a whole new touch.

This 2020 so strange saw the release of my first album titled "Heroes never die". An exciting album full of hope. Heroes never die: the heroes of our childhood who still accompany us, inspire us, support us and whom we still need.

The album also contains another cover with the same strong orchestral character: „Paganini's Landing“. This track had never been released before and I, by creating a cover in two different versions, was very careful not to betray the original too much.

Also in 2021 I will work hard on the composition. Some songs I have already written and will be released soon. If you would like to listen to them, it will be an honor and an additional source of inspiration for me.

Thanks a bunch!

Your Don Bastiano
